Weekly Energy Update: The Deeper Art of Grounding

This week’s collective energy is all about grounding — but not just the version you may have heard a hundred times before.

Yes, putting your bare feet on the earth is grounding. Yes, breathing fresh air, feeling the sun, or hugging a tree are beautiful ways to anchor yourself. But grounding can also be so much deeper.

Grounding is your energetic ability to give yourself a hug.It is allowing yourself to be held in time and space. It is feeling the quiet assurance that, right here and now, you are supported.

A deep breath is grounding.A moment of stillness in between tasks is grounding.A hand over your heart and the whisper, “I’m here with you” — that, too, is grounding.

Grounding as Safety

Grounding ultimately cultivates an ability to hold yourself — to train your body in what it feels like to be safely held. It’s deepening into a state of relative safety, whatever that means for you in this moment.

Because here’s the truth: we can’t fully be in the present moment until we’ve grounded first. Why?Because sometimes the present moment feels too big, too scary, or too raw. And when that happens, our instinct is to climb out of it — to distract, dissociate, numb, or busy ourselves through the “nows” so we don’t have to feel what’s here.

Grounding is the first step back to the present moment. It’s like the doorway we walk through before we can arrive.

How to Explore Your Own Grounding

This week, I invite you to explore the question:“What can I ground into?”

For some, it’s nature. For others, it’s a cup of tea, a favorite blanket, the weight of your pet curled against you.For some, it’s the memory of a place or person that feels like home.

In psychological terms, this is called resourcing — finding the people, places, objects, and sensations that help you feel safe, supported, and steady.Resourcing is grounding. And it’s step one in creating presence.

Your Practice for the Week

  1. Name Your Resources: Write down at least 5 things (or beings) that make you feel safe or supported.

  2. Touch One Daily: Each day this week, intentionally connect with one of those resources — physically or in your mind.

  3. Notice Your Breath: When you’re with your resource, notice how your breath changes. Let it deepen naturally.

  4. Pull Your Energy Back: Visualize gathering all the scattered parts of yourself into this single moment.

Grounding isn’t just a spiritual practice — it’s a life practice. It’s how we root before we bloom. It’s how we prepare the soil before we plant. It’s how we steady before we take the next step forward.

This week, root into your resources, hold yourself in time and space, and let your body remember what safe feels like.

Because from that place, everything else becomes possible.

Thank you for being here....
